Government usually reduces its debt relative to total debt (blue down) by keeping the amount constant, whilst private debt continues to grow, which increases the overall debt (red) = money supply. Since government debt has now shot to 35% of total debt (blue), enormous growth in the money supply will be required, impoverishing workers, and enriching the wealthy. Or government could raise taxes, which workers also pay for. It is easy to borrow money. Paying it back requires hardship for part of the population. There is no sign of government debt (blue) declining. The problem is just getting bigger.

The profit increase after 2001 was possibly due to US branded goods made cheaply in Asia. Then the high stock market level is dependent on the big profit margin between the two. Asia needs better brands.

The US Federal Funds Effective Rate (blue) exceeds the 10 year government bond yield (red) before a recession (grey band), except in the 1950s.

The average US house price was 682oz gold in 1971, and now 220oz. An investment in gold would have delivered 3.1x more growth than housing. As wages have not kept up with the rate of money creation, the construction cost of housing has also lagged.

Some reserve bank governors are under the impression that lower interest rates lead to economic growth. It only leads to economic growth if the increased debt is matched by increased production. Business debt (red) could expand production. Government debt (purple) and household debt (green) are mostly unproductive. Without the extra production it leads to asset appreciation and inflation.
Up to 1980 the US economy (blue) declined slowly relative to debt despite an enormous rise in interest rates (green). Government expenditure (red) increased. Governments take money from productive people, to provide benefits to people who do not have to work for it, which results in lower economic output.
Lower interest rates (green) after 1980 led to a decline in economic production relative to debt (blue). The increase in debt was obviously not productive.
From 2010 goverment expenditure as fraction of the economic (red) declined, and economic output relative to debt (blue) improved. In 2020 government expenditure shot up, and the economy (blue) collapsed. Economic output relative to debt (blue) has not recovered to the 2019 level.

The UK has good news and bad news. The good news is private debt has declined to 160.90% of GDP in 2023: Trading Economics. It could be due to high taxes killing private initiative. The bad news is government debt to GDP has increased to 97.60% in 2023: Trading Economics.
Ireland's unemployment rate is 4.3% (blue left). Economic output per person in US$ relative to US total debt as nominal inflation rate (red right) has not declined relative to 1960, unlike the vast majority of countries. It actually grew 0.27% per year. Well, shiver me timbers.

Ireland's economic output per person (green) is higher than the US (blue) and the UK (red). Ireland government spending to GDP was 22.9% in 2023, down from 64.9% in 2010 (Trading Economics). After the US unemployment rate (blue) increases, corporate profits (red) increases, usually a year later. During recessions (grey bands) profits decline, and staff is reduced. Then more workers are employed (blue down), and profits increase (red up).
Average wage (red) grew at the same rate as corporate profits per worker until 2002. After the dot-com bubble, companies made much more profits per worker, perhaps automation requiring less workers, or the use of cheap labour in other countries, but more likely the technology monopolies that survived the dot-com burst.

People cut back on vehicle purchases (-6.9%) and entertainment (-3.1%) to spend more on eating out (+20.1%) and fuel (+45.3%). They spent more on entertainment admissions (+27.4%), but less on entertainment supplies, equipment and services (-24.5%).

US exports of goods and services (blue) have not increased relative to total debt (as nominal inflation rate) over 70 years. It did shoot up with high interest rates from 1972 to 1984. Higher interest rates make the economy more efficient, since debt needs to generate more income to pay the interest. China's commodity exports (red) have not increased for 13 years.

History was created by a much smaller population. The Roman Empire: "At its peak, Rome was the largest city in the world, with a population of 1 million or so" (Khan Academy). London started as a Roman settlement: "The population of Londinium is estimated to have peaked around 100 AD when the population is estimated between about 30,000 and 60,000" (Wikipedia).
Services (blue) makes up 67.6% of US personal consumption expenditure (PCE), and should therefore dominate the inflation basket. Politicians concentrate on goods (red). Limiting cheap imports can only make goods more expensive.

US federal government debt was $34,587B in Q1, compared to M3 money supply of $20,767B and total debt $99,176B. Just government debt is already bigger than the money supply.
In 2023 private sector debt to GDP (Gross Domestic Product) was 171% in Germany and 268% in France (OECD). Greece private debt was 117%.
