The pent-up demand due to lockdowns, and money growth in countries like the US, created a spike in personal spending and metal prices like iron ore and the platinum-group metals. So far, the iron ore price is only returning to the 2019 levels around $85. Everything points to a recession around 2016, when the iron ore price fell to $40. That was too low for mines, so the price quickly rose again. Some mines have now cut production. Countries want to spend money on infrastructure, which should support the iron ore price.

S&P 500 Sets New Record By Surging 37% During Biden's First Year As President - Zero Hedge. That implies nominal economic growth of 37%, because the revenue of all businesses cannot exceed economic growth, and the net profit margin is limited. If there is any real economic growth, it is wages not keeping up with inflation. Either the growth in stock market must reverse, or the stock market go sideways whilst inflation catches up. To allow such growth in the stock market is a sign of incompetence.
